Chizuru Takano (高野 千鶴 Takano Chizuru) is a character in Tsurezure Children. She is a 2nd year student from Class 2-4 and a member in the Wind Ensemble Club.
Appearance[]

Chizuru is a small girl who has shoulder length brown hair that she prefers to wear in twin tails and violet/magenta eyes.
In the anime, she has light brown shoulder length hair tied into twin tails and berry colored eyes.
Personality[]
Chizuru is a person who cannot properly convey or understand her feelings (kuudere). While she was initially disinterested in dating and thought that it would be a tedious job for someone to date her, she later developed feelings for Takurou Sugawara and often found herself staring at him.
Chizuru can be said to be a timid and shy girl in general, though she also displayed some courage when she admitted during swimming lessons that she also often stared at Takurou (though unfortunately at the wrong person), or when she told Sugawara that it wouldn't be fun at the beach without him going.
In fact, whereas the earlier chapters see Sugawara attempting to confess, it is mainly Takano who initiates attempts to be together with him in the later chapters.
She can be dense at times, though this is by no means a unique trait amongst the Tsurezure Children characters. As Chizuru has never fallen in love before, it is hard to confess her feelings to Takurou. Unfortunately, Takurou also finds it hard to convey his feelings to Takano, despite his multiple well-intentioned but failed attempts at doing so.
History[]
Chizuru is a wind ensemble club member with Noriko Yoshinaga, where she plays the alto saxophone and she initially saw Takurou Sugawara nothing more as a very kind friend, which gradually transformed into a romantic interest when she came to realize her feelings for him (as she's never been in love before, she thought she had a fever at first when being lovestruck).
While the two of them might not fully realize their feelings for each other, their friends very much do, as was evidenced in the three-legged race amongst others in chapter 117. After Takeru Gouda claimed that his feet hurt, Keisuke Tsuji and Chiaki Uchimura (Takurou's friends) also pretended that their feet hurt so that Takurou could run the race together with Chizuru.

Takurou Sugawara []
Lately, Chizuru has developed feelings for Takurou where both of them are on good terms and often circle around each other trying to confess their feelings. In Chapter 211, Takano and Sugawara get together after an emotional talk.
Noriko Yoshinaga []
Noriko is Chizuru's friend who is also a fellow member of the Wind Ensemble Club. She was once interested in Takurou and sent him a love letter, but she got rejected and this didn't bother her too much because she knew it to be hopeless in advance. Noriko would go on to support her friend Takano and help her get together with Takurou.
Etymology[]
- The name Chizuru means "thousand" (千) (chi) and "crane, stork" (鶴) (tsuru/zuru).
- An ancient Japanese legend stated that a person who could fold one thousand origami cranes by himself within one year would be granted eternal good luck or one wish.
- Chizuru's surname Takano means "tall, high" (高) (taka) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no).
